@adam @rfrost The W3C set clear guidelines to keep social media open as far back as 2004-2005, but Zucks, Dorsey & Co disregarded all that and turned the web into a walled garden to enrich themselves.
The Fediverse is just a continuation of those protocols (ActivityStream > ActivityPub). Decentralized social networks on a blockchain (like Steem or Hive) is more censorship resistant but also comes with the trade off of immutability and a permanent record of your updates.

@Invictus if it does have Bluetooth this is a major culprit as well, turn it and WiFi off when not using it.
