@neanderthalsnavel NextCloud works like GoogleDrive or OneDrive. You have access to it via File Manager or Finder and can save files to it locally without being on web browser or something. Syncthing is powerful opensource syncing software between your devices, not a cloud service. But if your goal is to have files mirrored on your devices and have version control, then it works without it being a remote server (cloud). But if it all burns down in a fire, your files are lost.

@neanderthalsnavel What I liked about OneDrive, was that when I was in school I could log into any computer on campus and my my files were there through File Manager when OneDrive was logged in. Nextcloud isn't installed by default on all Windows computers, so it is not going to be as convenient for random computers. But you can always log into your nextcloud from browser and access your files or upload files that way.
